Provence Schedule
Come be part of the 2011 summer in Saignon. You choose when to come, for as long as you wish. Tuition, meals, ground transportation, and accommodations included. Stay for one week, stay for one month. It is for you choose. The workshop includes two plein air painting sessions per day, one morning, one evening. Choose to work either or both sessions. A course will be developed uniquely for you. Sessions will run non-stop from mid-May to mid-August. To reserve your place, contact us at personalprovence@yahoo.com. The all-inclusive cost for a ten-day workshop, including two sessions per day, meals, transport, and lodging is $3500, per person or $5600 for two painters, double occupancy.
Plein Air Painting with Petrov Returns to Pepperwood Preserve
If you missed painting with Andrew Petrov last year…now is your chance to study with him in the pristine beauty and stunning landscape of the 3,117-acre Pepperwood Preserve in the majestic Mayacamas Mountains between Calistoga to the east and Santa Rosa to the west. All painting levels are welcome. Class meets at the Dwight Center. To register, email: petrov.andrew@yahoo.com. Participants should bring stretched canvases, easel, paints, and brushes. Additional supply list, map and details will be sent upon registration. Participants should prepare for the outdoors and wear sun block, hat and painting clothes and bring water (and lunch for full day). Class size is limited.

Atelier
For me, the object of learning a manual craft is to be able to do this craft oneself. I focus my training program on developing an artist's skill and poetic sense. I prefer to train individuals to become artists. I find this method useful to hobbyists as well, since their objective is to still do the craft well, even if their intentions are not professionally motivated.
A painter must paint. However, the transferance of techniques, exchange of ideas, and inspiration to others who wish to paint represents as much of a vital role to the artist as does the making of art. As a teacher, I facilitate in others the discovery of the primordial act of image making.
